The first task in developing the website for the Illustrator Jacek Stachowski was to unify his numerous illustrations belonging to the categories Allegorische Illustration, Publizistische Illustration, Character Illustration and Piktogramme in one online portfolio.
Four illustrations were chosen from a count of over 1000 works and were positioned on the starting page. The illustrations represent a lighthouse to the visitor. In combination with the headlines they serve as navigation elements.
The navigation element for the category Piktogramme is based on a monochrome sport pictogram which has been given two shades of blue. It guides the visitor to the pictogram sub page, which provides a thumbnail overview. Each thumbnail is linked to a portfolio page. A click/touch navigation allows to browse through the portfolio pages. If the visitor decides to browse quickly through the pictograms they will appear for only a short time. A pictogram shows a characteristic feature in this short moment: The visitor is able to identified it as a unity, which can be associated with a specific meaning.
